How to prepare for NEET UG 2027
- Biology first: 90 of the 180 questions come from Biology. Read every NCERT chapter line by line and revise the diagrams. Use our NEET Biology notes and practise with the chapter MCQs.
- Practise with past papers: download sample papers and PDFs from the NEET Biology Downloads page. Also try our 40 NEET sample test papers.
- Physics: build the concepts first, then do timed numericals.
- Chemistry: Inorganic Chemistry and NCERT reactions are quick marks to secure.
- Accuracy: each wrong answer costs 1 mark. In mock tests, track how many questions you get wrong, not just how many you attempt.
- Plan for either mode: the mode is not decided, so practise some mock tests on OMR sheets and some on a computer.

Common doubts
When is NEET UG 2027?
NTA has not announced the NEET UG 2027 date as of 3 November 2026. Its revised exam calendar, which runs to April 2027, does not list NEET UG. The exam has been held in early May in recent years (3 May in 2026), so early May 2027 is expected, but only an NTA notice can confirm it.
Will NEET UG 2027 be computer-based?
It has not been decided. In 2026 the exam was pen and paper. In September 2026 the Union government told the Supreme Court that a move to computer-based testing is under consideration by a high-powered task force.
Is there an age limit or attempt limit for NEET UG 2027?
Under the 2026 rules you must be at least 17 years old by 31 December of the exam year, and there is no upper age limit or limit on attempts. Check the NEET UG 2027 bulletin when it comes out, as the rules can change.
Has the NEET UG 2027 syllabus changed?
No 2027 syllabus has been notified yet. The latest official syllabus is the NMC syllabus for NEET (UG) 2026, with 20 Physics units, 20 Chemistry units and 10 Biology units, which is listed on this page.
How many questions are there in NEET UG?
In 2026 there were 180 compulsory questions: 45 in Physics, 45 in Chemistry and 90 in Biology. The paper carried 720 marks and lasted 3 hours. The old 200-question format with optional questions is no longer used.
Why was NEET UG 2026 held twice?
NTA cancelled the 3 May 2026 exam on 12 May after inputs and law-enforcement findings on its integrity, and the matter was referred to the CBI. The exam was held again on 21 June 2026, without new registration or fees.
